Proud Mason

June 24th, 2009

My real name; for those who may not know it, is Dan Mickle.  I was born in May of 1974.  So yea, I am getting old.  I have been a Pennsylvanian my entire life.  Funny, because I said for years how I could not wait to get the hell out of here.  I ended up buying a house 3 doors down from where I grew up.  I like to dabble in a ton of things, so I guess you could say I am jack of all trades, but a master of none.  My two biggest passions (outside family) are volleyball and skiing.  I admit that with my hectic schedule I have not skied as much as I would like these past few years.

By trade, I am a tech nerd.  I have been an Microsoft certified this and that for years.  It has always come very easy for me, so that is why I do it.  It has become very stressful though lately.  I guess what bothers me the most is that no one ever calls to say hello.  It is always calling to complain about something not working correct (most likely something they broke). I am actually working on starting a new company, but that is a secret right now.  Most people think that I have an awesome set up at home.  That could not be the furthest from the truth.  I have an old Dell desktop and an P.O.S. Acer notebook that sucks.  I just am too lazy to work on things, so I never upgrade.  So yeah.  I pretty much fix and secure networks for law firms and insurance companies.  REAL BORING.

I have a wonderful wife named Teri, a beautiful daughter Morgan, and two dogs.  Mr. Mojo Jojo Doggie, the first, high commander of the rat terrier, P.I. (or Mojo for short) is 7.  He is a pure bred Rat Terrier (smaller version of a Jack Russell). He is a huge pain in the ass, but I love him.  He barks at everything every day.  You would think that he would realize the school bus, mail lady, and UPS man come at the same time each day.  Jaida is 6.  She is a Black Lab.  She is awesome.  She will swim until she gets too tired and sinks to the bottom of the pool.  Morgan was born on July 4th, 2008.  It was an amazing experience that is hard to put in words.  That is pretty much it for me.

I was a DJ for about 10 years.  I DJ’ed at places like Wanda’s and all those type of places, and my last home was a 2 year stint as the house DJ at Angelinas.  It was a blast, but after a while I got sick of coming home at 3 am and smelling like an ashtray every night.  I actually still collect music (I have a HUGE vinyl collection) and still have all my gear.  I sometimes come out of retirement for special events or special weddings.  If the right offer came around, I would consider getting back in to it, but I am in no hurry at all.

Last point in this lame bio is that I was one of the three original founders of OSHRadio.com (along with Jason and Jenn).  It was an awesome concept that ended up going bad.  I admit my ego and need to have control of everything was a huge part of the downfall, but damn we had a blast while it lasted.  I will try to get all the past shows up on my podcast section.  They are pretty harsh, rude, mean, and well..pretty funny.  We started off with the concept of doing local comedy shows and highlighting local unsigned music.  The station grew to over 3,000 songs and 8 shows at its peak.  Then things got busy and we all started fighting with each other.  So we decided to hand the station over to Crazy John who has done a sweet job with the project.  I do miss Jason, Jenn & I doing a show, but I am not sure it will ever happen again.  I do think a weekly podcast will re-appear at some point, so stay tuned.

Ok, that is enough typing for now.  I got real bored about half way through this.  Anything else, just ask.
