I was going to write this blog to complain about the way the adults in the K.R.V.A. (Keystone Region Volleyball Association) has been mishandled, and how some recent developments will actually hurt things worse than they are (if that is possible). I have since decided that doing so would not be the correct approach. I want to be clear that while I (as a player and adult club director) am very unhappy, there is NOT an attack on the board, or any of if members. In fact, I am very excited to see what the new adult chair will bring. (more…)
Last night I had trouble sleeping. I ended up channel surfing and came across MTV’s old show “Celebrity Death Match”. You know, the one where they match up famous people who are sort of alike (ie. Brittney vs. Christina) and have them fight to the death via claymation. This got me thinking. What if we matched up some old school volleyball rules versus “new school” rules in volleyball. (more…)
Quick quiz. What do figure skating, gymnastics, and swimming have in common? They are usually all in the top 5 of most watch Olympic sports. They are also usually at the top of the most attended live sporting events (outside of the major 4 US sports). So how is it that 3 sports have a ton of followers and fans, yet are not nearly as participated in as volleyball. (more…)
